Rainbow Snippets – 28 December 2019

Evening, all! I hope everyone had a great Christmas. My Christmas Day was kind of “bleugh” but I expected that. The following two days were better, visiting my sister-in-law and extended family. I did wish I’d taken my tent though, as there are some lovely hills to camp in nearby, and I barely got a wink of sleep in an unfamiliar bed in a house crammed with 11 people (at least 3 of whom snored like tractors). I have a nice break to enjoy now though, as my work shuts down over the break until 2 January.

My last snip of the year is more from Favourite Toy 2. This follows on right after last week’s, with Ryan talking to best mate Dean after his drunken romp with Remy the night before.

“I’m kidding. You look like shit, though.”

“Yeah, thanks, Dean.” My stomach clenched itself into a knot, and my heart pounded. Should I tell him? He was my best mate, but could I still confide in him without him telling Casper? “Something happened,” I said before I could stop myself.

“What do you mean?”

“Last night. With—” I stopped and sighed.

“With Remy?” Dean shuffled to the edge of his seat and leaned forward, eyes wide. “What did you do?”

“Um, we, um—” I dragged a hand through my hair. “We were drunk. I can’t even remember it properly.”

“You fucked him? Jesus, Ryan. I didn’t think you liked him like that.”

“Neither did I. It just happened.”

“Have you talked to him since?”

“Not really. We avoided each other.”

“What are you gonna do?”

“I have no idea.” I glanced at him. “I was trying to figure that out.”

“Well, when you do, you should talk to him.”

“Yeah, great, Dean. I know that.” I scowled.
