Happy weekend, Snippetteers! This is my last snippet for a couple of weeks as I’m flying out to Russia on Wednesday to climb a mountain. Any of you who have been FB friends with me for a couple of years might remember that I climbed Kilimanjaro in 2017, then wrote a book about it – or at least Summit was about two guys climbing it and going through the experiences I had. This time I’m climbing Elbrus, Europe’s highest peak, which will be a lot tougher. I’ll be trudging across a glacier in the snow and hopefully reaching the summit around 12th July. I’ll be away 11 days so will probably miss 2 snips, but I can catch up reading everyone else’s when I get back.
This week’s snippet is following on immediately from last week’s from The Power of Will. After “meeting” William, Tyler gets a shock

“You’re gorgeous,” I blurted and immediately a flush of embarrassment spread over my face and neck. As if you’d say that to a complete stranger. He might not be gay. He could be horrified. But his deep brown eyes lit with pleasure and his lips parted on a wider smile, displaying slightly crooked white teeth.
“Thank you—Tyler.” The significant pause before he spoke my name made my pounding heart quicken its pace more. Realising I still held his hand, I stroked my thumb over his knuckles before I reluctantly let go.
“You live here?”
“Yes. What about you?”
My brow wrinkled at the question. It was the way he worded it, almost as if he expected me to live here. Tearing my gaze from his face I glanced behind him, startled when I noticed the clutter on the kitchen windowsill—my clutter. I whirled around to face the garden and there was my own smaller plot with its hastily cut grass and naked borders, featureless and yearning for colour. A chilly finger touched my spine and I shivered, turning back slowly to face the rear of my cottage. William was gone.
