Hey, Snippetteers! Sadly, I missed last week as I came down with “man flu” and felt too rough even to turn on the computer. So I had lots of snippets to catch up on this morning – all last weeks, and the week before’s which I hadn’t had time to read. I have another one of my own for you this week, from Favourite Toy 2. Ryan decides Tristan is too clingy and jealous.

I got to my feet as Tristan marched into the room, flicking his hair out of his eyes. “Hey, Tristan. I wasn’t expecting to see you today.”
“You didn’t text or call me back. I was worried. I’ve been messaging you all day. Didn’t you get them?”
“Sorry, my phone’s upstairs charging.”
“Yes, I forgot about it.”
“I can see how you would forget. Things look pretty cosy here. Watching a movie together.” Tristan shot an angry glare at Remy, then turned back to me. “Is this how it is, Ryan?”
“Remy’s my housemate. You know that.” I released a sigh. This was it, then. I hated breaking up with people, despite having had so much practise. I glanced at Remy, hoping he’d get the message without me saying anything. He nodded and slipped out of the room.
“Are you sure that’s all?” Tristan moved closer to me.
“You’re jealous of Remy?”
“Yes, I’m jealous! I can’t help it. You have a houseful of other guys around you—”
“They’re my housemates,” I repeated. “You know that. Dean and Casper are so wrapped in each other, they don’t know anyone else is alive. And Remy—”
“Gawks at you like the sun shines out of your arse,” Tristan put in.
“Don’t be stupid.”
“I’m stupid now? Thanks, Ryan. I’m sorry I like you. I’m sorry I’m jealous that you spend time with other guys and ignore me. I thought this was going somewhere.”
“It is. Was.” I cleared my throat. “Look, I’m sorry. I think you want more than I do.”
“That’s becoming obvious.” He adopted a sulky expression. “I don’t know why you bothered asking me out.”
“Because I thought it was what I wanted. But I don’t want to get into anything serious right now. I’m really sorry. I think we should call it a day.”
