Merry Christmas, all! This is the second to last snippetting weekend of 2018 and I don’t know where the year has gone. I am sickenly ready for Christmas – gifts all bought and wrapped, cards sent/given, the tree up, and arrangements made for the whole of the Christmas period. We finished work yesterday and don’t go back until 2 January, yay! Most of my Christmas food is bought, I just need to top up the veggies, milk, and some mixers to go in the cocktails and that’s everything. Oh, and I need a bottle of wine for Christmas Day. Usually I get at least a couple from work, but this year I didn’t – they got me Prosecco, which I don’t like. Anyway…. enough waffling. Time for my snippet of the week.

I have more from Favourite Toy 2. After having a good cry and talking about his lost love, Ryan feels much better and decides to have a Predator movie marathon with Casper. Then Casper’s best mate calls and is invited over to join them.

Remy arrived about forty minutes later. Casper paused the film again to let him in and make more coffees. I glanced at the pair of them as they sat down together on the couch a little distance from me, chattering non-stop about Remy’s family with whom he’d spent most of the day. Casper and Remy were like two peas in a pod. They didn’t look alike—Casper was slender, pale, dark-haired, and turquoise-eyed, whereas Remy was heavier, with his hair cut in a modern style and currently bleached. I didn’t know what colour his eyes were. But they acted the same, barely pausing for breath, laughing with that slight screech I’d got used to since Casper moved in.
“Sorry.” Casper turned to me with a giggle. “Shutting up now. Let’s finish the movie. Remy will probably scream at the scary bits. He’s not really into horror. We watched Stephen King’s IT once and I swear, he hid behind the sofa.”
“I did not!” Remy flushed.
“Yes, you did. You said you had a clown phobia.”
“Not everybody likes horror.” Remy glanced at me and chewed his lip. I wondered if he was embarrassed that Casper was teasing him in front of me. I’d only met him a handful of times and didn’t know much about him.
“What do you like?” I asked.
“Comedy and romance. I love the American Pie series.”
“Yeah, they’re pretty funny.” I gave him a brief smile and turned my attention back to the TV.
