Happy weekend, Snippetteers! It’s been a busy week here and it’s flown by. I’ve managed to find some writing time, but I’m not doing NaNoWriMo this year as I don’t have enough writing time. I’ll be lucky to write 10k in the month I think.
Anyway, here’s another snippet from Favourite Toy. After outing Dean to his homophobic workmate, Casper tries to make amends.

As I pulled open the door, my jaw dropped at the sight of Casper, smart and preppy in grey slacks, shiny shoes, and one of those V-necked sweaters with diamond patterns on it, like golfers wear. I should have been irritated after what had happened on Monday, but my pleasure and surprise at seeing him overtook everything else.
“I’m sorry to turn up like this. Especially after—” He cleared his throat. “I wanted to apologise. I shouldn’t have shouted my mouth off like that. I just assumed that—”
“He was a guy I was with?” I shook my head. “We work together.”
“I know, you said. Was it awful? I meant to come and find you before. I’m really sorry.”
“It’s okay, don’t worry about it. Mark’s a dickhead and he told everyone else who’d listen, but most of them turned out to be really cool about it. I should have come out at work before, but I always thought it would go badly.”
“That’s a relief. So, um, I guess I’ll go.”
“Do you want to come in? Danny’s making chilli. I’m sure there’s enough—oh, shit.” I smacked my forehead. “You’re a vegetarian.”
“It’s fine, I already ate. You don’t want me hanging around though.”
“Why don’t you just come in and we’ll talk?”
“Okay.” Much to my relief, he stepped past me and hovered while I closed the door.
