Hey, Snippetteers! Welcome to the last snippet of 2017. I can’t believe how fast this year has gone by. And I’ve had a pitiful number of new releases – nothing since March. But hey. 2018 promises to have more new stuff, starting with The Short Stories Collection. Happy New Year, everyone – may 2018 be everything you hope it will be.
First, if you’re new to Rainbow Snippets, authors post links to 6-line teasers from LGBT+ stories with a wide variety of themes. They could be WIPs, published works, recommendations etc. Check out the group HERE and you might find your next favourite read.
Last week, I posted a teaser from In Darkest Peru, the first of three stories in my new collection. I now have a release date – 31 January 2018 – and by next week’s snippet there should be pre-order links too. This week’s snippet is from the same story, which sees Rhys hiking the Inca Trail in Peru with sexy Brazilian wannabe-guide, Rafael. Rhys tries to sleep under canvas for the first time.

Rafael slept, undisturbed by the rain, but as exhausted as I was, I couldn’t relax. The hard uneven ground beneath me prevented me from getting comfortable, and the rain was heavy enough to make me fear we would be washed away during the night. In addition, I was much too aware of the proximity of the sexy Brazilian beside me. He had stripped off his T-shirt before getting into his sleeping bag and he lay with his arms folded on his chest, uncovered almost to the waist. It was too dark to see much, but it didn’t stop my imagination working overtime. I pictured the firm muscles in his shoulders and chest, bulging under his skin. He probably had perfect abdominals, too, and a narrow trail of black hair leading from his navel to…
Fuck! Stop it! I squeezed my eyes shut and tried not to think about it. Go to sleep. The last thing I wanted was to be lying there with a hard-on, unable to do anything about it. I could hardly toss myself off with Rafael right next to me. The idea of being caught masturbating made my face burn in the darkness, while my traitorous cock twitched as if daring me to try it. I ignored it and concentrated on my breathing—slow and deep, until finally I relaxed.
Below, the blurbs and covers for each story
In Darkest Peru
When shy and geeky Rhys White is ditched by his boyfriend of five years, and made redundant from his job in the space of one week, he decides to make some changes. Tired of being boring and hiding being his computer, he throws caution to the winds and buys a plane ticket to Peru.
The adventure in Peru starts out well, but then disaster strikes when the bus he is travelling on is held up by thieves. Rhys loses everything, including his passport, wallet, and phone.
Stranded in Cuzco, not too far from the famous Inca city of Machu Picchu, Rhys tries to find someone to help him. Just when he begins to lose hope, sexy Brazilian, Rafael, comes to his rescue, and his desperation situation takes a turn for the better.
