Hey, Snippetteers! I hope you all had a good week. The dreaded sniffles have finally left me alone and at last I’ve been able to get the first round of edits done on Separation. I have another teaser from it this week, but first, don’t forget to check out the Rainbow Snippets Group on Facebook, where authors post links to 6-line snippets from WIPs, published works, or recommendations of LGBTQI stories.
Last week in Separation, Matthew came face to face with his twin, Tremaine, for the first time. Now he finds himself struggling to find anything to talk about. This is just a couple of lines on from the last snippet, the beginning of Chapter 3. If you haven’t seen my previous two snippets, and don’t know what the story is about, it’s a taboo tale of twins separated a few months after their birth. When they meet again on their twenty-first birthdays, their connection inadvertently leads to more than they intended or imagined.

Say something, you idiot.
I cleared my throat. “It’s my—our—twenty-first birthday. I—”
“When did you—?”
We stopped and laughed uncomfortably. “You first,” I offered.
“When did you find out about me?”
He nodded. “My dad said we were supposed to be told when we turned twenty-one. But he, um, he died when I was eighteen, so he told me early. I got in touch with the agency to try to find you, but they said they couldn’t make contact with you. It was down to you to want to look for me if and when your parents told you.”
Bloody rules. “I’m sorry about your dad.”
“Thanks.” A pained look flitted across his face. It still hurt him after three years. I’d never lost anyone close to me, but I knew it would be hard when my parents passed away.

I’m hoping to release Separation on March 31, but I’ll keep posting snippets from it until then. Watch this space for a release date! In the meantime – I am looking for a pre-reader and thought this would be a good place to ask. If you’re reading the snippets from this story I’m guessing you’re not too averse to the taboo content. Please PM me if you would be happy to pre-read the story and let me know if it’s okay as a whole, if the characters are likeable, and if any obvious plot holes stick out. It’s 47k and there are a number of detailed sexual scenes between brothers, just so you know. Happy to return the pre-reading favour any time 🙂
